This article may be of interest to some of you. Oprah discusses her recent weight gain. I'm fascinated by some of the comments that readers left under the article. So basically, I'm wondering what you think of Oprah going public about this issue (again). Oprah's weight battle has been making headlines for years. If you're an Oprah fan (or even if you're not) I'd love to hear your thoughts/reactions to this article.
- How do you feel about Oprah saying she is "ashamed of herself"? Do you think this sends a message to women about their own weight?
- Is Oprah's choice to make her weight issues such a public battle part of her being a product of our media/society? Does this make her more or less appealing to you?

i dont think oprah should be ashamed of her weight. is every plus size women be ashamed of themselves. i think oprah should fell good about the way she looks.and thank god she is heathly and not sick. i know a year ago she was battling a thiroid problem.i dont care what she looks like,she is beautiful and i still love her no matter what she looks like.stop worrying about what people think of your weight. god loves you the way you are! Hell with the public.

I think it is really brave of Oprah to be so public about it. Oprah's weight loss was never about looking skinny...it was about wellness and empowerment and spiritual fulfillment, which I think is a really positive message. Anorexia and Obesity are essentially the same disease, afterall. That is not to say that every plus-size woman is suffering from this disease... But Oprah was so public about "making the connection" during her process in losing weight...
That being said, I NEVER think OPRAH should be ASHAMED!!!!
